Ok I really am going to try to keep this tollerably short.

I am working from Home this Am with a 1:00 customer call that is a must make.
12:20 I head out the door and In my little spread of goose decoys up on the hill I see movement.
More looking makes it out to be a goose.
Cool I think ..Had one land in....... They do that all the time particularly when I am not there.
Then I notice it is walking the fence trying to find a way out. Ahhhh a crip. So I fetch my best Black dog and give him a line and a Hard Back !!
Away he goes and brings back his favorite soccer ball out of the orchard. rolleyes.gif

Second attempt at flushing the bird results in a wide pass around the decoys and he is ready to fetch something but no camo, no gun ,callin or shots whats a pup to think. He finally gets down wind and the hunt is on. The Bird is now clearly visable as I have walked up the hill and to within 40 yards.
Bird sees dog.. Dog sees goose and the chase is on. Short shuffle and the damn thing takes flight. Right at me ... not like in my general direction but on a colision course.
Now things get interesting!! unsure.gif
The Big dog is in hot pursute and closing. The goose has me in its sights, waist high . A moment before the wreck I step to the side and for some unknown reason or lack of reason I do my best Bruce Lee side swipe kick and connect with a 12 lb fully motivated to get away from a Lab that is closing fast Goose.

Well... I ain't no physics prof , but do the math.. 12lb @ 30 mph ,a dumb ass with a leg full extended ,balanced on the other foot will result in being dumped on ones A$$ everytime from the impact. It does ..I assure you.

Now the dog is fully focused on catching the bird who is now tumbling in the opposit direction as me and the Dog runs right the hell over the top of me.
The dog grabs the goose and the goose grabs the dog and the dog indicates a healthy respect is building for a very lively bird this size.
About half a min of hissin and pissin and the big dog ends it like a coon fight.. wade in and take your licks and Get her done.

So there I stand in my grass stained dockers with goose crap on the shoe and a Very confused Lab in the middle of the decoys thinkin ..

Man I wish my friends could see me now!!! cool.gif laugh.gif cool.gif

I was laughing so hard I was in tears. The picture you paint is something that you just can't make up. If only you could have gotten it on tape.

I tell you what....I keep reading this post by DP and still laugh my a$$ off. I think the funniest part is about the dog running over the top of you. I have made up my own little movie in my mind of what I think it would look like and I just laugh everytime I think about it.

Thanks for the humor DP....Keep 'em coming...

I am happy all enjoyed. :)
And as always it brings to mind a story.
More like a line to live by.

My first duck partner.. Mentor if you will, had the good fortune to still have one of his mentors still around and I got to hunt with both a few times.
He told me once between drags on an unfiltered camel and sips of the strongest Black "boiled" coffee that was more chewed than drank;

Put the decoys where the ducks want to be and you will be a hero everyday.
And his other gem was .
Once you lose your Vanity your life will be much simpler. withstupidsmiley.gif rolleyes.gif

I was young and fairly full of it so Looking back It was probably a scolding that only took 25 or so years to sink in completely.
He was sooo right and I was so full of it!

So for what ever time is left to enjoy, I am the guy I like to laugh with the best!

Stay tuned I do lots of dumb human tricks. ohmy.gif laugh.gif
